Messenger Fish

This little guy is sculpted out of used paper, for example junk mail, food packaging and cardboard boxes. It has 4 magnets on the hands to hold messages up in the air. The magnets were rescued from a discarded shower curtain. The stand is a combination of the stick from a  broken window blind, a blue tube left over from new construction and a cool little copper stand I found at Goodwill Thrift store.  It is currently at KALEID Gallery in San Jose, CA. If you are into a wide variety of art, you will love KALEID Gallery.

New work at KALEID Art Gallery HARK Holiday Show

KALIED Gallery has had a Holiday show for about 10 years now. During the annual HARK Show you can find creative and unique gifts.  I made the Scented Mandrake roots for this years show. They are made of  rope scraps, junk mail and paper food packaging. The paper is then sealed with nontoxic glue and paint. As an absorbent layer for the scented oil, I then add an unsealed layer of paper to the chest and belly. This allows the paper to absorb the essential oil and to give the root a scent.

The Scented Mandrake Collection is part of my effort to continue dialog about the importance of living sustainably.

Echioceras Marble

Many years ago I was told that as an artist you are innately toxic to the environment. This worried me because we need a healthy environment and yet I have this compulsion to create. This unlikely marriage of emotions are what drive me and police my work.
I hand made this canvas of recycled materials and coated it with non-toxic and low-no-voc paints
